For the second day, week 2 of BM #26, here is a basic dressing recipe which can be used with a whole range of things.
I found this recipe in Tarla Dalal's 'Fast Foods Made Healthy'. I made this with low-fat yogurt and thought it would be a very good substitute for cream and egg based dressings commercially available.
It made for a no-nonsense dipping sauce for our family. The kids ate their snack without any complaints. We loved the sauce with some Savory Scones too. Incidentally I figured that the kids like celery with peanut butter as well :)
Ingredients -
Yogurt 1/4 cup
Lime Zest 1/2 tsp
Basil 1 tsp (I used dried basil)
Apple, grated 2 Tbsp
Salt and Pepper as per taste
Method Of Preparation -
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
Chill for a couple of hours before serving.
Serve as a dressing for salad. It tastes good as a dipping sauce for carrots, celery and even with crackers!! Get creative and enjoy!
