Nepali Dal Bhaat Tarkari

Nepali Dal Bhaat Tarkari

Day 4 BM #56 -

Just as Dal and rice is a comfort food for us, Indians, it is the same for our neighbors. Nepalis eat this fare twice a day.

The tarkari can include any vegetables of the season and as I understand potato is almost always present.

Method Of Preparation -
For Dal -
Pressure cook the dal with turmeric and 2 cups of water. It took me about 20 min.

Grind the ingredients listed under 'To Grind' into a fine powder.

In a heated pan, add oil and saute tomato until mushy. Sprinkle the above spice powder, add salt, Red chili powder and the cooked dal.

Mix well and remove from heat. Garnish with cilantro and squeeze a lime if needed.
