Dal Paratha

For Day 3, Week 1 of BM #38, here is a wholesome paratha which can be served for breakfast, brunch, snack, lunch or dinner.

I love these kind of parathas which have a protein component too. I rely on such protein based dishes for my kids when they get back from school. Also any leftover dal can be dressed up and presented differently. :)

Ingredients -

Leftover Dal 1/4 cup (I used Methi-Tomato Dal; Any Dal works)
Salt, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, Red Chilli Powder, Dhania Powder, Jeera Powder (Add any or all of them according to taste)
Wheat Flour 3/4 cup (or more according to the consistency of the dal paste)
Oil/Ghee to shallow fry

Dal Paratha

Method Of Preparation -

Blend the dal and all the spices added according to taste. Transfer the paste to a mixing bowl and add the wheat flour to knead into a soft dough.

Cover and set aside for 5 min.

Heat the griddle/tawa.

Pinch the dough into 4-5 equal parts and roll each of them into a thin circle (roti).

Gently place the dough circle on the hot griddle.

After bubbles appear, flip it, spray oil/ghee and after a few seconds, flip it and spray oil/ghee until both sides are uniformly cooked.

Cover in a paper lined box and continue with the rest of the dough.

Serve it with curry of your choice.
