Peshawari Naan

Here is yet another exotic naan which is full of nuts and flavor. There are multiple variations of this enticing naan. Feel free to add more nuts and / or coconut to make it even more rich and filling.

Check out this interesting Naan for Day 3 Week 2 of BM #38.

Recipe Source - here
Ingredients -

Maida / All Purpose Flour 3 cups
Milk 3/4 cup
Yogurt 2-3 Tbsp
Yeast 1 1/2 tsp
Kalonji / Nigella seeds 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar 1 tsp
Oil to grease the dough
For the Filling - Nuts of your choice and raisins few (I used Almonds and Cashews)

Peshawari Naan

Method Of Preparation -

In a huge mixing bowl, add flour, salt, kalonji and mix well.

In a smaller bowl, proof the yeast by adding warm water, salt and sugar to the yeast. Mix well and set aside.

After it froths up in about 6-7 minutes, add the yeast solution to the flour mixture along with yogurt.

Add milk gradually to knead it into a soft dough.  Spray oil on the dough so it doesn't dry out, cover it and set aside in a warm place for it to rise.

After it rises, punch down the dough and let it rise for a second time in a warm place. (I totally set the dough aside for 5 hours).

To prepare the filling - Coarsely powder the nuts and add the raisins to it.

Make 12 equal portions of the dough.

Roll it out and put a teaspoon of the filling, close the edges and roll out thin into an oval shape. (I made small circular ones while the traditional ones are oval in shape.)

Set the oven to Broil and arrange the rolled out discs on a pizza pan or any sturdy oven safe pan. Broil for under 2 minutes while carefully monitoring them.

Flip them over for a few seconds and remove. Apply butter generously and store them away in a container.

Continue with the rest of the dough.

Serve with any curry of your choice. I served with Aloo Matar.

Preparation Time 2-3 hrs resting time + 30 min baking time
Makes 12 small size
