Most of us start our day either with Tea or Coffee, right? Though it is an everyday drink, I felt I should record the masala chai we like it home. I am sure each family has a different way of making tea.
But this Masala Chai is a perfect one to enjoy on a rainy evening, cuddled up on the sofa with a magazine or a book on hand!!
Sometimes I don't add water. I make tea with only milk for a richer taste. So here is the humble tea for day 4 week 3 of BM #27.
Ingredients -
Tea Powder 2 tsp (or a tea bag)
Milk 3/4 cup
Water 1/4 cup
Sugar as needed
Ginger 1/2 inch piece
Masala to Grind -
Cloves 2
Cinnamon Powder 1/8 tsp
Cardamom Powder, 1/4 tsp
Pepper Corns 3-4
Method Of Preparation -
Grind the ingredients for the masala and set aside.
In a heated pan, add milk, water, tea masala and grated ginger and bring it to a boil.
Let it boil for about 2-3 minutes so that the flavors are infused.
Strain, add sugar or preferred sweetener and enjoy with accompaniment of your choice!

Both of us don't drink tea. But I'm going to try this for the guests (incidentally whoever visits our house happens to drink tea).
I don't drink tea, this seems very refreshing addition of pepper corns is interesting.
Somehow I can't stand both coffee and tea to my husband's dismay. :)
I guess however this must be a treat for tea lovers.
I am more of a coffee person being a madrasi but this masala chai is yummmm
