Today I had to post something which satisfies two events namely Blog Hop Wednesdays started by Radhika and for Day 4 of Srivalli's Blogging Marathon - Edition 9.
For Blog Hop, I was paired with Kaveri of Palakkad Cooking. I had to pick up a recipe from her space which qualifies as dressing up leftovers. Fortunately I saw this Moong Dal Paratha and set out making them today with some leftover moong dal from yesterday's lunch. My older one had these for a snack today and was pretty impressed.
Note - I had some Pappula Podi in my pantry and I added it to the moong dal mixture as I felt it was a little runny. Another option would have been to heat it up and stir till the additional moisture evaporates.
Check out what my fellow blog hoppers posted today and also check my fellow marathoners here.
Ingredients -
Whole Wheat Flour 2 cups
*Leftover Cooked Moong Dal 1/4 cup
Salt as per taste
Warm Water to knead the dough
Garam Masala 1/2 tsp (or as per taste)Oil for spraying on parathas
* I had made plain moong dal with just salt, red chilli powder, lemon juice and seasoning.
Make equal portions of the dough. Roll out small chapatis and fill in a spoonful of the moong dal mixture, close the edges and roll out the parathas taking care that the mixture doesn't fall out. Shallow fry in a heated pan until both the sides are done. Repeat the procedure for all the parathas.
Sending this to Srivalli's 'Kid's Delight - Dressing up leftovers' guest hosted by me.
Method Of Preparation -
Knead the chapati dough with the whole wheat flour and salt with as much water as needed. Keep it covered for about 10-15 min.
Mash the moong dal to a stiff dough. Knead in some Garam Masala as well.
Enjoy with Yogurt or any gravy curries!
Preparation Time 30 min
