For Day 2 week 4 of BM #33, I picked a recipe from Nivedhanam. It was very tempting and I knew we would love it as I had earlier made a similar tasting one with Idli Rava, Uppu Urundai and loved it.
Ingredients -
Corn meal (Corn rava) 1/2 cup
Water 1 cup
Salt 1/4 tsp
Turmeric 1/8 tsp
Seasoning (Oil 2 tsp, Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp, Curry leaves few, green chillies 1-2, red chillies 1-2, Hing 1 pinch)
Grated Coconut for Garnish
Method Of Preparation -
In a heated pan, boil water. Add salt and turmeric. After the water starts to boil, reduce the heat and slowly add the cornmeal and mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps.
Mix until the mixture becomes a solid mass. Remove from fire and let it cool for a few minutes.
Pinch small portions of the mixture to form small balls, arrange them in a mini idli plate and steam them for 6-7 minutes.
After the steamed ones are ready, prepare the seasoning by adding mustard seeds to hot oil. Also add green chillies, curry leaves, red chilies, asafoetida and add in the steamed material.
Sprinkle some salt and remove from fire. Garnish with grated coconut and enjoy !
