This masala powder can be used in various dishes like vangibath (Spicy Eggplant Rice), Alu Bath (Spicy potato Rice), Capsicum & Tomato rice and also sometimes in sambar. To me the fragrance of pathar phool (Rathi puvvu) is an added incentive to use it in as many dishes as I possibly can.
Ingredients -
Chana dal 2 tsp
Urad dal 2 tsp
Dhania 3 tsp
cinnamon 1 inch
cloves 2 nos
cardamom 2 nos
pathar phool 2 tsp (rathi puvvu in telugu)
dried chillies 4-5 nos
dried coconut powder 6 tsp
Method of preparation -
Dry roast each of these separately until they smell good and grind them into a fine powder. Alternatively one could proportionately increase the quantities for each ingredient and make the masala and store in an air-tight container.

Harini, I made this powder couple of days ago and it enhanced the flavor of brown rice. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
