Apple Raita

In my last trip to the library, I got a bunch of cookbooks to see if there is anything which catches my fancy. But as it always happens, I never browse through the books as leisurely as I would like to but nonetheless, I picked out a few of them which I thought would be fast, easy and healthy.

Here is one from Madhur Jaffrey's 'From Curries to Kebabs', which was a healthy addition to my lunch. Check it out for CCC#2, Nov week 2 edition.

Ingredients -

Yogurt 1 cup
Apple, finely chopped 1/2 cup (I used the green apples)
Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Chaat Masala, Pepper as needed

Method Of Preparation -

Beat the yogurt and mix in the chopped apples.

Sprinkle in the salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala and pepper.

Serve with Rice/Biryani/Pulao etc.

 Preparation Time 3-5 min
Serves 1-2

  1. The sweetness of the apple should pair really well with spicy dishes! Lovely recipe..

  3. I have tried this recipe before and for some reason never warmed up to it. I think I prefer the traditional onion, carrot or cucumber ones.

But now that my daughter enjoys all kinds of raitas - I could try this one with her

  21. @Usha, @Suja I used the Granny Smith Apples but the original recipe mentioned the red apples. I have tried both the varieties and I personally liked the tanginess of the green apples.
