Hummus

H for Hummus under 'International Foods' for BM #32. We have been introduced to Pita chips and Hummus almost a decade back and since then we get them home on and off. This A-Z series prompted me to try out Hummus at home and we felt it was tastier when made at home.

As soon as I started preparing the list for this marathon, this was one of the first to be fixed ! So make this at home and let me know if you agree that it tastes much better when made at home.

Ingredients -

Garbanzo Beans soaked, cooked 1/2 cup
Garlic, minced 1 clove
Salt as needed
Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp
Lemon Juice 1 tsp
Tahini 1 1/2 - 2 Tbsp (Recipe given below)
Water as needed
Olive Oil 1-2 Tbsp

Hummus

Method Of Preparation -
To Prepare Tahini - We need 2 Tbsp of White sesame seeds and 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil.
Dry roast the sesame seeds until they are just about change color.
Powder the seeds in a blender and add olive oil to make a smooth paste. Set aside and use according to need. It can be stored in an air tight container and refrigerator for quite some time.

To Prepare Hummus -
In the Processor, add tahini, lemon juice, cumin powder, salt and blend/pulse them first.

Then add the cooked garbanzo beans and blend into a smooth paste. Add water if necessary.

Remove into a bowl and mix in olive oil to make it creamier.

Sprinkle some Cayenne Pepper before serving.

Pita Chips and Hummus is our favorite combo!
