Traditionally sesame seeds laddu is prepared during the winter months as sesame seeds is supposed to generate heat in the body. I tried giving it a twist by adding khoya and found these irresistible.  This is very good source of calcium and good for kids. Also according to Ayurveda, post-menopausal women benefit a lot by eating these laddus (khoya is optional) on a regular basis. Another version of these laddus is to prepare them with dates instead of jaggery. But for now, here are the laddus I prepared for BM #5 Day 2...

Khoya Sesame Laddu

Ingredients -

Khoya 1/4 cup (Home made)
Sesame Seeds  1/4 cup (2 Tbsp less than 1/4 cup)
Jaggery approx 1/4 cup (adjust as per taste)
Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp (Optional) - I didn't add it

Method Of Preparation -

I used frozen home made khoya so I had to thaw it for about a minute in the microwave. This step can be skipped if using fresh khoya.

In another microwave proof plate, I roasted the sesame seeds until they were light brown (about 2-3 min in 30 sec intervals.)

Cool the sesame seeds and coarse grind in a spice mill (the sesame seeds can be used as is too).

In a separate microwave safe bowl, add a tablespoon of water and jaggery and heat it in the microwave until the jaggery is melted. Strain the liquefied jaggery (to check for any impurities).

Mix the khoya, coarsely pound sesame seeds into the jaggery to make a stiff dough.

Khoya SEsame Laddu

Pinch into small portions and roll in your palms to make bite sized laddus.

Serve as needed or store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for upto a week. [Since it has khoya - a milk product, consume as soon possible]
